If available in your system, the NWS Hazards layer of the Map View displays the “NWS hazards”, that is, the weather watches, warnings, advisories, and statements issued by NWS (National Weather Service).
The NWS hazards have been divided into hazard categories:
You can select in the side panel which hazard categories are displayed. For example, if you select “Winter Weather”, the issued hazards that are related to winter weather are displayed.
The icons on the map indicate the issued hazards and their categories. See the side panel for icon explanations.
The icons are located in the middle of the area that the hazard concerns.
The significance of the hazard, for example, “Warning”, is indicated with the color of the icon and the color of the area on the map. See the legend in the side panel for explanations.
The hazard list at the top of the page shows the details of the hazards that are currently displayed on the map. To see all the hazards, zoom out or move the map.
To see the details of a specific hazard:
Move the mouse pointer over the hazard icon, or over the colored area on the map. The corresponding hazard will be highlighted in the hazard list.
Click the hazard icon, or the colored area. Small pop-up window will be displayed showing the hazard details.
